Minor Objectives:
A primary goal of the minor is to educate the student to be knowledgeable as a cross-disciplinary global-minded leader within whatever professional field he/she seeks beyond graduation. The student should develop an ability to see his or her own leadership competencies within the context of their academic field, and then in relation to working across disciplines and cultures. The minor is designed to provide students with a broad understanding for how to work more collaboratively, creatively, and effectively with people from disciplines outside of their origination, and more importantly from other cultures. |

Why Study Abroad?Ever since I was little, I always wanted to study abroad. The only hang up with this idea was to choose a place to spend an entire semester. I am very type-A and so if I go somewhere I want to maximize my time and experience. I was between a few colleges but I ended up choosing NC State because of this program. The uniqueness of learning more about leadership on a global scale and traveling to multiple cities is very appealing.
As a STEM major it is very difficult to find classes that are suitable for my degree abroad, but unlike other study abroad programs, this allowed me to gain a minor, and not have to worry about taking STEM classes. When studying abroad, I was constantly reminded that no matter where someone is from, college students still get stressed about grades and completing assignments. These nuances and the actual experience with other students allowed me to grow as a person and to see that even if there are multiple barriers there will always be a commonality to connect with. |
